This presentation provides details on the state of Satellite Based Internet for boaters as of August 2026. Information is provided about up coming systems that are currently in development that will add competition for Starlink from SpaceX. Amazon LEO and AST Cellular Access exclusively via LEO satellites are likely to be widely available by 2028. Both constellations are in process of being populated but are being paced by the availability of launch vehicles. Amazon had planned to use Blue Origin New Glenn spacecraft to launch its satellites but the destruction of a New Glenn first stage during a firing test at Cape Canaveral set the program back many months if not over a year.
Nonetheless Amazon LEO and AST will eventually reach capacity in orbit to provide initial operating experience for limited users and then full access by al subscribers.
